Manager Brendan Rodgers, has told Liverpool striker Luis Suarez to train away from the team.Suarez claims he was promised a transfer to Arsenal if Liverpool didn’t qualify for the Champions League. The goal scoring Suarez disagrees with his manager’s assertions that no promise was made.

Rodgers reacted to the situation by saying:”I will take strong, decisive action, absolutely. I think Luis knows the support he’s had at the football club and that’s something that’s been unswerving throughout the whole of last season. “My job is to fight and protect the club. ”

BT Launches Sports Channel

Looking to challenge British Sky TV, telecom goliath BT has launched a UK sports channel.  BT is just the latest to challenge Sky who has already beaten back  ITV Digital, Setanta and ESPN.  The pay TV British football market will get a chance at free viewing on 17 August, the first day of the Premier League. BT has the rights to 38 live Premier League matches per season, about a third of what Sky has. In addition to that they have Premiership Rugby, Moto GP and have taken over ESPN’s UK sports channels.

Ecuadorian soccer player Christian ‘Chucho’ Benitez dies suddenly

Sad news coming out of Qatar who are the hosts for the 2022 World Cup. 27-year-old Ecuador striker Christian “Chucho” Benitez died on Monday. He suffered a cardiorespiratory arrest, after severe stomach pain/ Benitez was born in Quito on May 1, 1986. The team said this in a statement:

His sudden departure is a big shock for each member of the technical and administrative staff. He was a player that over the short period he was here was regarded for his high moral character said the El laish Sports Club.
There were no reports of complaints from Benitez. The match was played in hot and humid conditions. Conditions which have led to calls to move the World Cup to a cooler time of year.
