An amazing armbar by “Mighty Mouse” Demetrious Johnson on John Moraga was what the champ needed to defend his crown. In just his second defense of his title, he got the submission win, which occurred late in the fifth round. In front of what amounted to a hometown crowd Johnson gave them a treat with a flourish for the crowd of four spinning kicks in the center of the ring after the winning decision.
Johnson was the man with the steady hand as he controlled the fight using various takedowns. Moraga nearly submitted from a choke hold in the first round. The second didn’t go much better as Johnson continued to pummel Moraga’s in his stomach. In the fourth round Moraga got off an electric right hand but Johnson was able to shake it off.
In other matches Rory MacDonald beat Jake Ellenberger in a less than crowd pleasing welterweight fight. Robbie Lawler defeated Bobby Voelker emphatically in a second-round knockout. Liz Carmouche cruised past Jessica Andrade.

The DMV area will soon be hosting a major race in the area. At Founders Park in Old Town on November 17 the U.S. National Road Racing Championship will be in town. As someone who splits their time between South Beach and DC this is very cool. It is an awesome opportunity for all the local talent to participate in a national level event.
They have added some shorter runs for the ambitious amateur. This will be the final race for the competitive runners season.
