Looking to challenge British Sky TV, telecom goliath BT has launched a UK sports channel. BT is just the latest to challenge Sky who has already beaten back ITV Digital, Setanta and ESPN. The pay TV British football market will get a chance at free viewing on 17 August, the first day of the Premier League. BT has the rights to 38 live Premier League matches per season, about a third of what Sky has. In addition to that they have Premiership Rugby, Moto GP and have taken over ESPN’s UK sports channels.
