A new report study from the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn. suggests that the common blood pressure drug Olmesartan (Benicar) can cause symptoms that mimic Celiac Disease, leading to unnecessary treatment.
These gastrointestinal problems seem to occur quite rarely. It’s not clear how often people who take the blood pressure-lowering drug will develop the gastrointestinal problems that are similar to those caused by Celiac Disease. For the moment, though, the side effects appear to be unusual, said Dr. Peter Green, director of the Celiac Disease Center at Columbia University Medical School, who was not involved with the study noted, his center has seen patients who developed Celiac Disease-like symptoms while taking Olmesartan and some have been quite ill. “One went into kidney failure and needed dialysis,” he said.
Upon discontinuing use of Olmesartan the symptoms improved. At this point the why has yet to be discovered. Now these findings will still need to be proven. Right now cause and effect cannot be attributed to the drug.
Here is a little breaking news about Gluten Free labeling
Gluten intolerance
Special gluten labelling rules are also to be included in this legislation. Food products intended for people with gluten intolerance should contain less than 100 mg gluten per kg and may be labelled as having “very low gluten content” whilst those containing less than 20 mg of gluten per kg may be labelled “gluten free”.
MEPs say the European Commission should prepare a study with a view to addressing the lack of specific rules for lactose intolerance.

Check out http://www.dcglutenfreeexpo.com/ for details
The Celiac Disease Program at Children’s National Medical Center (CNMC) is thrilled to invite you to the Second Annual Washington DC Gluten-Free Expo!
Our last expo brought more than 700 people to check out the gluten-free goodies from more than 60 vendors from around the world! This year we’re expecting more than 1,000 attendees based on early registration figures. We hope you’ll be able to join us for the 2012 event, which promises to be even better than our last expo!
The 2012 Expo will feature even more gluten-free vendors than last year! Each vendor will sample and/or sell their products. In some cases, the vendors will offer large discounts to purchase products at the event.
This event is sponsored by the Celiac Disease Program at Children’s National Medical Center.
All proceeds from the event will benefit the patients and families of this program.
Reblogged from Gluten Free, Vegan, Low Carb News:
Hello all! This is an excerpt from my book Dear Diary: What My Doctor Never told Me About Liposuction™.
Writing this book has been a very essential part of my recovery from tumescent liposuction. Except for my son, doctor, and finally, my Mom, there was no one I had chosen to confide in.

Just thought I would give you a couple excerpts from the Carb Back Loading eBook download.

TGLUT Manipulation
I can't remember being more excited than when I learned about glucose transporters and their ability to move within a cell, called translocation.
GLUT are specialized protein structures and they transport glucose — blood sugar — into cells for energy or for storage as fat.

Hey everyone. In the interest of fairness there are those who don't believe in the low carb diet technique. So I thought I would bring to your attention one such product. Fat Loss 4 Idiots does not follow the take a look at one of the products that does not follow the low carb diet technique…
For my Gluten Intolerant folk out there, we wanted to let you know about a cooking class. On Monday (6/4/12) in Ann Arbor Michigan at 5060 Jackson Road between 6:30-9:30 p.m.
Here is an excerpt from the post at http://www.annarbor.com:
“Menu: Sweet potato biscuits with blackberry jam and orange butter; quinoa salad with lemon yogurt dressing; salmon cakes with remoulade; chocolate flour-less cake. $65. 734-645-1030.”
